The play at the right is called Butler and is a sample of our animated basketball plays.

All of our free animated basketball plays have been designed using Plays In Motion Software.

Click on the name of the play to see an animation of it. There is no danger to your computer in viewing these basketball plays.

These animated basketball plays are run from a 1-4 high set. Give some thought to running all of your set plays from the same alignment. That is tougher for your opponents to scout and is a consistent signal for your players that you are runing a set play. We like the 1-4 high because it allows for four pressure release passes and it is difficult to deny all four of those passes without exposing the basket.

The following animated basketball plays are paired so that each play has a counter. The naming system is using a college name with the nickname of that school being the counter. So, Jayhawk is the counter to Kansas. That is why they are grouped together.

The play is called Butler and is a sample of our animated basketball plays.

Animated Basketball Plays

Butler--Two clear out options for drivers and double screen for a shooter.
Bulldog--counter to Butler if the initial entry is denied finishing with three screen the screener actions.

Kansas--Motion entry with the primary option being a slip screen from the right elbow. Primary purpose is to set up the counter Jayhawk which is a backdoor play.
Jayhawk--Backdoor counter to Kansas with several other options.

Kentucky--Isolation for a one on one drive or three point shot.
Wildcat--Counter to Kentucky if defense goes under the screens.

UCLA--Quick play to isolate any player on the low post
Bruin--Counter to UCLA for a weak side back door.

The plays are named with colleges and mascots not to imply that those schools run those plays, but to be able to pair the plays with their counters in a way that makes sense to our coaches and players.

The remaining plays do not have counters posted at this time:

Bethel--Diagonal upscreen with an America's play double screen for the original screener.

Carolina--Diagonal screen to isolate #3 in the post and finishes with a screen the screener.

Cincy

Plymouth--a play to run against a man to man defense to get the last shot of the quarter.

Purdue--combination of Kentucky and Butler with the Kentucky cut and then 2 screen the scrreener actions.

Texas--Play with an option for two 3 point shots and a slip screen. Some coaches refer to this as "America's play" because it or a variation is run by most teams.

UMass--A ballscreen play to run after you run UCLA

Utah --upscreen to get your post into the low post finished with a flare screen for your point guard.

Wake Forest--ball screen from the wide wing with a staggered double on the opposite side of the floor.

Catch Up Offensive Mode

Think about adding something to your system to get quick shots if you are behind the last 2:00 of a game. Perhaps something quite different from what you normally run.

Many college programs go to a high ball screen set when the shot clock is running down. Duke is a basic movement to start your though process.
