Rip Hamilton on Moving Without the Ball

Yes, this is what Richard Hamiltion looks like without his mask. In our minds, he is one of the best there is at moving without the ball. He makes some great points on changing speeds and changing directions. In addition to the instruction that he provides in this basketball video, he demonstrates one of the drills that he uses in his basketball workouts to work on moving without the ball. As in the other NBA fundamentals videos, you must adapt the lessons to your level. If you are a middle school or high school player watching this, the officials at your level are not going to allow you to use your arms and hands the way he suggests. That works in the NBA, but not at other levels of basketball.

After you watch this video, also check out some of the basketball workouts and other basketball videos dealing with shooting a basketball that we have posted here at the Coaching Toolbox. After all, it doesn't do much good to move without the ball if you don't put it in the basket after getting open!

We have alreday posted these great NBA stars offering tips on how to play basketball:

Ray Allen on Jump Shooting

Shane Battier on Taking the Charge

Sam Cassell on the MId Range Game

Carlos Boozer on Post Moves

Dwight Howard on Rebounding

Steve Nash on Passing

All of these videos are from the TNT series NBA Fundamentals.

We have posted some videos from another series with Michael Jordan on Triple Threat and the jab step, Michael Jordan on the Crossover, and Michal Jordan on Driving off the Fake.
