Training is Mental

This video was sent to us by our friends at My Trainer. It is a great clip to show your team to drive home the point that training is mental. We take that message a step further in that we believe that a high percentage of everything associated with basketball is mental. You have pobably heard Coach Knight's quote that in basketball, "The mental is to the physical as 4 is to 1." Granted, there are obvious differences in physical ability, but with most college and high schools competing in classes, divisons, and conferences that are as similar as possible to themselves, most of the time, the physical playing field will be close to even.

We feel that this is a great message for any type of physical and mental toughness you are working to improve, whether it is staying in a stance longer on defense, battling harder for rebounds, going after loose balls harder and for longer periods, or whatever you are emphasizing to improve.

The truth is, we all have more in us than we usually get out of ourselves, coaches included. One reason we like to provide this type of information to the basketball community is that it helps us to work harder on The Coaching Toolbox and on all of the projects that we have going in our lives.
